Food, Shelter, and other Services at Bridges of Hope.

“I am staying here for the first night.  The people here are amazing.  This is a place where God’s people truly are.”

Shawn, a guest at Bridges of Hope Shelter

Bridges of Hope Shelter Staff and Volunteers actively engage with our guests to make sure they are getting the help they need with recovery, counseling, housing and job acquisition? Our amazing managers and volunteers are intentional, informed, and invaluable in the process that our guests go through when they walk through our doors from start to finish. Our goal is that each guests leaves us with a sustainable and secure future.

Food

We serve hot, nutritious meals donated by our community members – up to 50 per day, 365 days a year. Breakfast is served daily at 6:30 a.m. Dinner is served daily at 7:00 p.m.

Shelter

Overnight shelter is available to all residents of Greene County, Ohio that find themselves with an emergency need of a place to sleep for the night.  We serve adults over 18 years old, both men and women in separate areas of our facility.

Restrooms

Safe men’s and women’s restrooms are available for all our guests.  This restores dignity and allows us to reach people we may not otherwise meet.

Showers & Clothing

Showers and emergency clothing are available to shelter guests. Guests may sign up for a shower time at check in.  Emergency clothing is provided on a case by case need basis according to the discretion of our managers.

Mail Service

We provide a mailing address for dozens of homeless individuals—a vital service for anyone who needs an address for job applications, family correspondence and legal issues.

Referrals & Liasons

Assistance is available to find area resources like treatment programs, medical providers, employment programs and transitional housing facilities.  We also provide liason services to our guests by providing proof of their stay, helping them through processes and other documentation/recommendations requested by various services.

Shelter Bucks

Guests that sign up for chores and life classes at the shelter may earn “Shelter Bucks” for special amenities, clothing at the Clothes Closet, bus tokens and other items available at the shelter.

Life Classes

Various volunteer groups and individuals from our community host Life Classes such as Bible Studies, Recovery Meetings, etc that our guests can attend at the shelter in the evenings.

DAYHUB

DayHub is a new ministry of Bridges of Hope that takes place each Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings.  We have Bible Studies, Life Classes, agency referrals, organizational partnerships & paperwork assistance.  Volunteers, staff and other agencies stay through the morning helping our guests work through processes for IDs, jobs and housing.  Many of our guests have trouble completing paperwork, whether they struggle to read, write or have trouble understanding forms or applications.  Our team takes time to walk through these documents with them, often using their own hand to fill them out.  We hope to expand DayHub soon to an additional day with outreach to people needing help outside the shelter!
